In 1986, Maria Gallo created Framar out of the back of her husband Frank's salon, becoming the first in Canada to create foil made specifically for hair stylists. Some 35 years after taking this leap of faith and founding the company, Maria is still at the helm today, serving as Framar's President and remaining intricately involved in all aspects of the business.

Meet Maria: She embodies the soul of Framar and provides the strong foundation for the company even today. For the first 20 years, she was a one-woman show, running everything from production and sales to packing each order by hand.

How did we get our start? Maria and Frank ventured out to salons in their home province of Ontario, Canada, knocking on doors and educating hairstylists on the future of hair color. Riddled by challenges and turned away repeatedly by salon owners, the duo looked to distribution, and thus, Framar was born. Maria became an over-the-phone sales specialist, working with a network that introduced Framar to hairstylists across the entire country, all without ever physically meeting many of her customers - some of whom are still a strong part of Framar, 35 years later.

Why do we love what we do? To the uninitiated, it might not seem like bold colors and trendy designs matter much when it comes to creating professional hair tools and accessories, but it's woven into our DNA. The community of hairstylists we engage with on a daily basis provides us with the inspiration to keep innovating, and the enthusiasm they share for what we create gives us the fuel to keep us motivated.
